Part "Activity Group Therapy" part "Lord of the Flies" and part "What it Means to be an American", "Social Climates of Groups" is psuedo scientific propaganda to for "democracy." It's impossible to give this film credit as a real experiment, but it is still interesting from perspectives both of the subject it purports to be about and the filmaking. I'd guess it was made in the mid 1930's when fascism and "communism" were making headway worldwide. To sum up the point of this film: "democracy is happier and more productive than authoritarianism or anarchy" but it is impossible to generalize to all groups from the imposition of "democracy" by an adult authority on conditioned preteen boys. Perhaps the USA's imposition of "democracy" on Iraq is relevant? Not as easy as it is in the film, eh?

I agree with you wholeheartedly Steve. Although I found the film mostly numbing to sit through, I did like the Autocratic guy the best, (point point point). I was very surprised at how this film mimicked Activity Group Therapy.
Rick?? Any history on this film?
